What is EPREL and why do I need energy labels?
EPREL (European Product Registry for Energy Labelling) is the EU database for energy-related products. EU regulations require online retailers to display energy labels and product datasheets for certain product categories like electronics, appliances, lighting, and tyres when selling to EU customers.
How does Label Buddy connect to the EPREL database?
Label Buddy fetches energy data directly from the official EPREL API using your product's GTIN or EPREL ID. The data is automatically kept up to date in the background, so you never need to manually download or upload label files.
Do I need coding skills to set up the app?
No. Label Buddy works out of the box with Shopify's built-in app blocks. Simply install the app, link your products, and add the energy label block to your theme. No code changes required.
Which product categories are supported?
We support all major EU energy labelling product groups including electronic displays, washing machines, light sources, refrigerators, dishwashers, tyres, smartphones and tablets, tumble dryers, air conditioners, ovens, and more. New categories are added as regulations come into effect.
How does multi-language support work?
Product datasheets are served in your customer's browser language automatically. The EPREL database provides datasheets in all 24 official EU languages, and Label Buddy detects the customer's language preference to display the correct version.
